PROJECT DESCRIPTION

The project consisted of the replacement of five oil-filled switches located in the existing 1953 hospital building that was identified by the manufacturer to be unsafe. The scope of work included the demolition of the existing oil-filled switches. the installation of new SF6 switches, new duct banks and raceways, new MV cables, the replacement of a pad mount transformer and the replacement of existing doors in some electrical substations of the hospital building.

More specifically, ILB Electric’s scope included the buildout of an electrical room (including building systems and finishes), installation of greater than 2,000ft of overhead rigid metallic raceway throughout existing occupied areas, all of which was met by OSHPD standards.

Additionally, ILBE supplied and installed new 15-kV cables, terminations, G&W switches, testing and commissioning. All 12-kV work was performed in a phased manner with 20 significant coordinated switching, outages, cutovers and energizing events.
